Matthew 8:5-17,
A soldier, one who would seem least likely to come to Jesus for help approaches him. He is not asking for himself but for his servant. He speaks from his heart and Jesus responds to this man of faith. The healings continue with Peter’s mother-in-law and many others who were brought to Jesus that day.
Initially, I remember being puzzled when we began to use the centurion’s words but came to realize they are a fitting way to prepare for my encounter with you when I receive you into my body, into my soul.
